dailyeggprice.in exists to answer one question quickly and honestly: what is the egg rate today, in my market? Millions of people in India need that number — poultry farmers deciding when to sell, traders pricing a consignment, shopkeepers setting a counter price, and households working out whether today's ask is fair.
The number itself is published by the National Egg Coordination Committee. What was missing was a place to read it that is fast, current, clear about which date it applies to, and honest about what it does and does not know.
What we do
We read NECC's published daily rate table, store it, and present it for each of the 34 declared zones. Alongside the per-egg figure we show the price per dozen, per tray of thirty, per hundred and per peti of 210, because those are the units people actually buy and sell in.
We also keep the last seven days for every market, so you can see whether today's rate is a move or a continuation, and NECC's monthly averages, which matter when you are negotiating a supply contract or judging a season rather than a day.
What we are not
We are not NECC, and we are not connected to it. We do not set egg prices, influence them, or represent anyone who does. We publish figures that NECC has already made public.
NECC's own rates are suggested, not binding. The committee states plainly that its prices are advisory and that it does not enforce compliance with them. We repeat that here because it matters: the number on this site is a reference point, not a price you are entitled to.
How we try to earn trust
Every rate carries its date
If NECC has not published a revision for a market, we say so and show the date of the last confirmed rate. We never present an old figure as though it were new. A page that always claims to be current is worth less than one that tells you when it isn't.
We never invent a number
If we have no confirmed rate for a market, that page says so. It does not show an estimate, an average, or a placeholder dressed up as an official figure.
Estimates are labelled as estimates
On each market page we show what you are likely to pay at a kirana shop or a supermarket. Those are derived from the wholesale rate and are marked clearly. Only the NECC figure carries the "Official" tag.
Our method is written down
How we source our data sets out exactly where the figures come from, how often they update, and where the process can fail. If you think something is wrong, that page tells you enough to check us.
How the site is paid for
The site carries advertising. Advertisers have no involvement in the rates we publish and no influence over the content. There is nothing to buy here and no account to create — the data is free to read and free to use.
Corrections
If a figure looks wrong, tell us. Include the market and the date and we will check it against NECC's published sheet the same day. Get in touch.
