Every rate on this site originates from one place: the daily price table published by the National Egg Coordination Committee at e2necc.com. We do not survey markets, model prices, or blend sources. If NECC has not declared a figure, we do not have one.
The chain, step by step
- NECC declares. The committee publishes suggested rates each morning for its declared zones. Rates are normally settled by around 2:00 PM IST.
- We read the published table. An automated job reads NECC's daily rate sheet several times a day around the declaration window.
- The data is checked before it is accepted. An import is only stored if it contains at least twenty recognised zones with prices inside a sensible band. A partial or empty read is rejected outright.
- Rejected data changes nothing. If a check fails, the previous good figures stay on the site and we are alerted. Stale but correct beats fresh but wrong.
- The site reads from storage. Pages are built from stored figures, so what you see is the same data every visitor sees at that moment.
What the numbers mean
NECC quotes rates per 100 eggs. A declaration of 580 means ₹5.80 for one egg. Every other unit on this site is arithmetic from that figure and nothing else:

We round to two decimals and apply no other adjustment. There is no smoothing, no averaging across markets, and no correction of NECC's figures.
Zone names
We match NECC's zone names exactly as the committee writes them, including its own spellings such as
Luknow (CC) and Muzaffurpur (CC). Changing them would break the match and
silently empty a page, so we keep the source spelling internally and show the conventional spelling
to you.
A zone marked (CC) is a consumption centre and (PC) a production centre. That distinction is NECC's, not ours.
When a rate is carried forward
NECC does not revise every zone every day. When there is no new declaration for a market, the previous rate still stands, and we show it with the date it was declared and a note that it has been carried forward. We never restamp an old figure with today's date.
Monthly averages
NECC publishes monthly averages on a separate sheet that cannot be read automatically. We enter those figures manually after each month closes, from the committee's own published sheet. That is why the monthly page updates once a month rather than daily.
Retail and supermarket figures
The NECC rate is the only official number on this site. Retail and supermarket figures on each market page are estimates, derived from the wholesale rate using the typical margins described on those pages, and they are labelled as estimates wherever they appear.
Real counter prices vary with quantity, grade, breakage, transport distance and the seller's margin. Treat our estimates as a guide to the gap between wholesale and retail, not as a quoted price.
Where this can go wrong
No data pipeline is perfect, and we would rather describe ours than pretend otherwise.
- NECC changes its table layout. Our reader expects a particular structure. If it changes, our checks reject the import and the site holds the last good data until we adapt.
- NECC renames a zone. A renamed zone stops matching. We run a daily audit that alerts us when a market stops resolving, so it is caught within a day rather than discovered from a complaint.
- The source is unreachable. If NECC's site is down, nothing new arrives. We keep showing the last confirmed figures with their real dates.
- NECC itself publishes an error. We reproduce what the committee publishes. If their figure is wrong, ours will be too until they correct it.
